The rate of individuals experiencing forms of human trafficking is increasing rapidly in communities across the United States. The issue is substantial, but just how bad is it? Based on calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, The Polaris Project has found that in 2019 there were at least 14,597 sex trafficking victims and survivors in the United States. More specifically, Michigan reported 364 cases so far in 2022 and is ranked ninth in the list of states with the highest rates for human trafficking.
